Westgate Mall Fairview Park Ohio
Westgate Mall in Fairview Park, Ohio, has seen major changes since it was built 50 years ago. Department anchor stores at Westgate Mall changed from what was originally Halle’s and Higbee’s to the Dillard’s that was built in the 1980’s but then moved to nearby Great Northern. Because Westgate Mall could not compete with the newer, larger Great Northern, stores closed and the original structure was demolished in summer of 2005. Currently Westgate Mall plans to cut operations to only a Kohl’s store, their AMC Cinemas and a detached Longhorn Steakhouse.
However, renovation plans are underway to develop Westgate Mall into a vital and markedly different market mall. Westgate Mall will simply become Westgate, and the remaining stores will be incorporated into an exciting, open-structure market with an impressive lineup of stores and restaurants woven among pedestrian walkways and plazas. Westgate plans to reinstate Kohl’s as the anchor for the new mall and add 50 to 60 specialty shops and restaurants. Westgate Mall’s official closing date is yet unknown.

The current Westgate Mall features several fast food options such as Cinnabon’s, McDonalds, and Sbarro’s Italian Eatery. There is also a dine-in Applebee’s Bar & Grill at the Westgate Mall. Fifteen apparel outlets, five shoe stores, and several specialty shops will remain open for an unspecified period of time. The new Westgate will feature some of the same stores along with additional anchors.
